ChatGPT: A Revolution in Artificial Intelligence (AI)
You can now chat with a truly intelligent, AI-powered chatbot that can answer almost any question in an incredibly natural way. 🤯
We’ve all encountered (not-so-)smart chatbots that can only respond to a limited set of questions. But ChatGPT—a conversational AI developed by OpenAI—is a game-changer. It responds naturally, remembers previous messages in the conversation, understands context, and much more. This breakthrough enables it to generate full-length articles in response to open-ended questions, often at the level of a well-written school essay.
The days of “Google found 31,350,599 results for your search” might soon be over. After all, who even clicks to page 2 on Google? (They say it’s the best place to hide a body. 😉)
The challenge of multiple search results has been a major hurdle for voice search, which has gained popularity through smart speakers, Siri, Alexa, and Google Assistant. When we ask a question, we expect a simple, direct answer—not 1,000 possible search results. ChatGPT could revolutionize this.
However, this will undoubtedly spark heated debates in education about AI—known in Faroese as tilgjørdur vitleiki. The discussion has already started—Zeynep Tufekci wrote an article in the New York Times last week on this very topic, highlighting challenges such as plagiarism and AI-generated text containing misinformation.
(I can’t help but think how amazing it would have been back in my school days to ask a computer to write my essay for me. 🙄)
OpenAI’s Other Groundbreaking AI Tools
OpenAI has introduced several revolutionary AI tools, including:
- DALL·E 2 – Converts text descriptions into AI-generated images.
- Playground – Functions similarly to ChatGPT, allowing users to generate full-length articles and essays from open-ended prompts.
Despite challenges and limitations, this is a major breakthrough in AI, fundamentally changing how we find information and get answers to questions.

It’s clear that built-in safeguards prevent blind trust in a machine. At the same time, ChatGPT offers the ability to generate text instantly. The challenge will be fact-checking the content—but this is already an issue when searching for information on Google.
As a result, digital literacy, source criticism, and critical thinking will become even more essential in education and upbringing for future generations.
